DfaD Update! - 12/9/09

Well, another week rolls by, and it's time for another DfaD update!
This happens to be a long one, but I encourage you to read it all; there are several exciting and important things I need to announce/mention. ;)

-------------------------------------------------------

Stats:
Current Donation Progress: $14,632
Amount Left to Raise by Christmas: $9,368
Percent of Goal Raised: 61%
Days Remaining Until Christmas: 18

-------------------------------------------------------

As can be seen, we have had quite a nice jump up from last week; thank you all so much!

Now, I also know that the Rebelution reached their $1,000 goal, which means that Alex and Brett will be matching that with another 1k, which I have not received yet. Thanks so much everyone connected with the Rebelution; you guys are great!

In addition, I know for a fact that the FCA has received at LEAST 1k (but they still have alot coming in here towards Christmas), so that means that WE HAVE RAISED ENOUGH MONEY FOR TWO WHOLE WELLS!!! Yessss! The Lord is good! Of course, I still have to receive those checks, but it's as good as. ;)

-------------------------------------------------------

In other news, I had the great opportunity of being interviewed on the Good Morning Memphis show (Fox 13) last Thursday. I had a great experience, and I think that it went very well. Watch the clip here:

I'd love your feedback! :) Thanks so much to Scott Lancaster for getting me connected to the TV station too!

-------------------------------------------------------

As we are moving into the Christmas season and that special day draws ever nearer, I have a suggestion for a special way that you can benefit DfaD and therefore the people of Sudan.

I was recently contacted by a youth pastor in Rapid City South Dakota, and his youth group is going to do a campaign for DfaD they are calling "One Less Gift". The idea is for the kids to ask for one gift less for Christmas, and to ask their parents to donate the money they would have spent on DfaD.

Personally, I think that this is a wonderful idea! So, I would encourage you this Christmas season to consider asking for "One Less Gift" and donate the money to help individuals who will benefit way more than you will from that 10 or 20 dollar present!

-------------------------------------------------------

And that leads me into the final topic I need to touch on in this week's update. Lately I've been thinking about the December 25th goal. Well, to be honest, this is really just a personal goal for myself; there is no real reason we have to have the money in by that time. It's not like I'm going to shut down the website and you can't donate after Christmas!

Also, I realize that alot of you are going to do your promotion in conjunction with Christmas or leading up to Christmas. I don't want to limit you in your fund raising with this human goal! I want you to be free to promote whenever is best for you.

Therefore, I am dissolving the "December 25th" goal "deadline"; We will simply have a goal of $24,000 for 2009, and that may or may not spill over into the beginning of 2010. It doesn't really matter. If the Lord blesses us with 24k by Christmas, wonderful! If not, wonderful! We will just keep going until we get it!

Now, I am FULLY confident that we can reach our goal by Christmas; I don't want to sound doubtful here at all. I simply want to give people the freedom to promote at the most opportune time for them. :)

-------------------------------------------------------

And now we come to the end of a very long update (for the length I apologize). Thank you so much for your time, donations, and encouragement! I can't wait to see what's going to happen in these next few weeks; let's work hard for the sake of others who cannot help themselves!

Sincerely,
Joshua Guthrie, Director
