Dear friends and benefactors of Dollar for a Drink,
A new year is upon us, and it is my pleasure to announce that I received the last needed amount to finish off our goal for $24,000 on December 31st, 2009! Currently, I have received $24,335, and that isn't even counting the thousand from the Harris brothers (which I have yet to receive). Indeed, the Lord has been good the cause, and I thank you all SO much for your help and participation!
For me, it's really amazing to think back to 2008 when this whole thing was first getting started. Since that time, there have been so many people who have stood up to help me, whether they had money, time, or encouragement to offer. I wish that I could thank them all personally, but sadly I am limited by time and space from the majority of them. Rest assured that my sincerest thanks go out to each and every one of you who helped, no matter how "small" your contribution was!
Now you are probably wondering what the future holds for DfaD. Well, for the moment I will continue to accept donations throughout January, so don't worry if you got your money in late (or if you haven't yet). There is still time! Once February arrives, I will arrange to get all of the money donated in 2009 and January 2010 given to Baptist Global Response. After that, I expect the wells will be installed about a month or so afterwords. I will be sure to contact you all once this happens.
As to future projects, I must say that I really don't know what the Lord has in store for me. I have no idea where I'll be in the next eight months, though I will say that I am more than willing to do this whole thing again next year, providing the Lord gives the green light and you guys are willing to help out again! I think it would be great if DfaD could branch out and provide wells for people not only in Darfur but also to those in other countries who are in desperate need of fresh water as well. I will be contacting Mr. Palmer soon to talk to him about this.
In the meantime, Dollar for a Drink will shut down in terms of actively promoting the project. (I've got to have a break sometime!) However, if you weren't able to do a fundraiser this Fall due to scheduling issues, and the Spring or Summer will be better for you, then by all means do a fundraiser whenever is best for you! This is a very flexible cause. :)
Once again, thank you all so VERY much for helping DfaD reach it's goal! Both I and the people of Sudan, Africa, thank you for the gift of life you have provided to thousands of needy people. :)
Should you have any questions or comments, just send me an e-Mail via the website's "Contact Us" page.
May the Lord bless you!
